Trained as a calligrapher, my mixed media work weaves letters, lines and images in a seamless organic way. Themes I explore include inner and outer landscapes, poetic musings out loud on canvas, paper and handmade artist books. My aim is to speak loudly in whispers—to draw the viewer in and invite them to stay awhile. My approach is intuitive and improvisational. Themes emerge as an emotional response to something, rather than a planned intention to create a series. Skill building and mastery are a means to create a rich visual vocabulary for expressing ineffable “intimations.”
