Dennis Dunn

Printmaking
Dennis was an extraordinary artist. He did art work continuously from an early age. His work is often figurative. Quite often it is of the irrational or the paradoxical, made to seem normal. It often depicted an intrusion of the strange into the mundane. Dennis worked with bird quills and bamboo pens with ink. He used metal point stylus made of silver, lead and tin instead of graphite. He often painted on heavy watercolor paper or gessoed panels with tempera. Now, his tools and subject matter seem anachronistic, but they were in keeping with his love of past materials and techniques.

What TO expect

Take a trip to the village of San Leanna, in South Austin, off of FM 1626, to see the art work produced over many years by Dennis Dunn. Dennis is no longer with us, his work is being shown by his family. Work on paper is primarily intaglio printmaking, woodcuts, watercolor and drawing. You will be able to leaf through portfolios and peruse the collection of works created by him. There are also acrylic works on canvas and egg tempera on gesso board. This venue is one of two that you can visit in the village, the other is also well worth a visit.
