Rakhee Jain Desai

Fiber/Textile
I am a multidisciplinary artist working across mediums, both hard and soft including sculpture, painting, textiles and site-specific installation. With a background in ethnography, I ground my practice in listening and community engagement to create work that invites people to see themselves reflected in public space and feel connected to the deeper, layered histories of place. My studio work integrates ethnic craft methods such as handmade natural dyes and resist techniques.Β Integrating these mediums draws a direct connection to my heritage and personal evolution as an Indian woman in Texas.
