Painting
I am a visual artist and landscape architecture graduate student exploring the intersection of environment, memory and time. My work is anchored in observational drawing and painting, often capturing ephemeral experiences. Influenced by abstract expressionism, contour drawing and my own experience of partial hearing loss—which has heightened my other senses—I approach art as both an expressive and sensory practice. My creative process is grounded in fieldwork that examines plant ecologies and site histories.

What TO expect

Stop by Kate’s East Side studio to see medium and large scale landscape paintings—ranging from abstract to representational—alongside fieldwork sketches. As a current landscape architecture student, Kate’s work investigates both the architectural and sensory qualities of landscape, exploring how structure and atmosphere shape our experience of place. During the tour, she will be actively working on new paintings, drawings and design studies related to her master’s program. Artist portrait by Simón Beckmann, curator and cofundador of Joya: arte + ecología (@joya_air).
